Isolde is the princess of Ireland and the queen of Cornwall. Isolde once healed a disguised Tristam, who later returns to Ireland in order to bring Isolde to Cornwall so his uncle, King Mark, can marry her. Isolde and her parents agree to this, and she goes with Tristam. Iseult sent a magical love potion for her daughter and Mark to use on their wedding night, but entrusts it to Isolde's lady in waiting. Tristam finds the potion and assumes it's wine, and ends up drinking it with Isolde. They fall deeply in love with each other, and become lovers. When the trip ends, Isolde marries Mark, but is still madly in love with Tristam; who continues to be her lover.
